My Transformative Reiki Journey: Achieving Goals and Healing Through Energy Work

Starting a journey toward healing and personal growth can feel overwhelming, especially when life throws challenges your way. I set out with clear goals to complete before turning 60, including finishing a mindfulness course I began years ago and diving deep into Reiki practice. This post shares my experience with Reiki, how it helped me and my loved ones, and the steps I took to grow in this powerful healing art.

Revisiting Mindfulness to Build a Strong Foundation
In 2019, I started a mindfulness course but only completed half of it. Life’s pressures, including a stressful job and jury service, pulled me away. Early last year, I decided to return to the course. This time, I approached it with renewed focus, using mindfulness techniques to manage stress and stay grounded.
Mindfulness helped me:
Stay present during difficult moments
Reduce anxiety related to work and personal challenges
Prepare mentally for learning Reiki, which requires calm and focus
Completing the mindfulness course gave me the mental clarity I needed to fully engage with Reiki practice.
Diving Into Reiki: Learning and Practicing Energy Healing
Last summer, I enrolled in an online Reiki course. The course was intense and required many hours of practice. Most of my practice sessions were on myself, my husband, and our dog Holly. Holly has arthritis and had major surgery for a damaged cruciate ligament, so Reiki became a gentle way to support her healing.
Key parts of my Reiki practice included:
Daily self-treatment sessions to balance my energy
Practicing on my husband to help with his stress of stopping smoking and tension.
Using Reiki on Holly to ease her pain and support recovery
After submitting detailed reports and evidence of my practice, I was attuned in Reiki, which means I received the energy connection needed to channel healing energy effectively.

Although the online course was thorough, I felt the need for a deeper connection. Earlier this year, I attended an in-person Reiki course to meet a Reiki master and receive an attunement face-to-face. This experience was powerful and helped me:

The in-person attunement added a new layer of energy and commitment to my practice.
Expanding Skills with Crystal Reiki and Healing
To broaden my healing toolkit, I completed a course in crystal Reiki and crystal healing. Crystals can amplify Reiki energy and offer specific benefits depending on their type and color. After this course, I was attuned in crystal Reiki, allowing me to combine these two healing methods.
Using crystals in Reiki sessions has helped me:
Enhance energy flow during treatments
Target specific emotional or physical issues with crystal properties
Create a calming and supportive environment for healing
This combination has made my Reiki sessions more effective and enjoyable.
Exploring Sound Healing as the Next Step
Currently, I am studying sound healing. This practice uses vibrations from instruments like singing bowls and tuning forks to promote relaxation and energy balance. Sound healing complements Reiki by working on a different energetic level.
I look forward to integrating sound healing with Reiki to offer a more holistic approach to wellness.

One of the most rewarding parts of my Reiki journey has been seeing the benefits for my family and pet. Reiki helped my husband manage high blood pressure and the stress of trying to stop smoking. For Holly, Reiki provided gentle pain relief and supported her recovery after surgery.
These real-life examples show how Reiki can be a practical tool for everyday healing.
